After failing to hold unity talks with Umno, the conservative faction of the Islamist party is now pushing for an “intellectual” discussion with Umno Youth, in a sign that the fiasco has NOT been laid to rest.

PAS's conservatives, led by party president Hadi Awang and deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa are keen on exploring options with Umno as they feel the party and its leaders are being overshadowed by Anwar and the other two parties.

But such an open sign of cooperation between the two political rivals could spark off a fresh round of concern among both their partners in Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

The PAS flirtation with Umno over the possibility of forming a unity government had caused serious fissures not only within the Islamist party but also among its PR partners, the DAP and PKR

Last week, PR leaders made a public commitment towards the fledgling alliance,.

But The Malaysian Insider understands that an intense power struggle continues in PAS between the conservative ulama group who are for unity talks with Umno, and the so-called Erdogan faction, backed by spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, which sees its future in the opposition alliance under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan, in a JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE with Umno Youth deputy chief Datuk Razali Ibrahim today, said the talks are aimed at resolving the political standoff between the two parties.

Nasrudin added that the talks will be beneficial to the Malaysian public.“We hope this will be the beginning of many more discussions and to have an intellectual culture in solving problems. What is important is the honesty and the truth. What we are looking for is the truth and not trying to attack each other. What we are want is the truth,” ,” Nasrudin said.

Both parties will create a special secretariat to deal with the format, subject matter and the location of the discussions.

Nasrudin also wants the intellectual discourse to be held public so that Malaysians can witness how the two parties are trying to solve their political differences.

Nasrudin stressed that this discussion is not related with the failed unity talk but it is an attempt by both parties to discuss what is best for the country.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was at the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya today, told reporters he did not know the details when asked about PAS Youth’s bid to have an “intellectual” discussion with Umno Youth.

When pressed for his views on how this latest round of talks will affect Pakatan Rakyat (PR) ties, he said “I will let the PAS leaders discuss it first.”

Calon mana pilihan anda?

Dua-dua sama ja - two sides of the same coin.

Anda terpaksa membuat pilihan antara taik dan saluran taik.
Selamat mengundi!

Orang yang ketagihkan Umno macam orang hisap rokok juga. Sejuta amaran, sejuta undang-undang TAK mampu menghalang ketagihan rokoknya.

Orang yang ketagihkan Umno pun sama. Sejuta Nik Abdul Aziz pun tak akan mampu menghalang ketagihan mereka. Mereka diam tak bererti mereka dah tak nak Umno.

Saya belum jumpa fatwa yang terang-terangan menghalalkan merokok. Tak jumpa tak semestinya tak ada. Namun, saya tetap memohon ampun kepada Allah s.w.t. Insya Allah, saya nak cuba berhenti merokok. Saya dah cuba banyak kali dah.

Who are the people PAS Youth trying to dupe?

PAS Youth secretary Kamaruzaman Mohamad in a statement said the reports referred to a handing over of an official invitation letter to Umno Youth to have a discourse on the topic titled "Is it true that Umno's struggle is not against Islam" through the setting up of a secretariat of both movements.

From the topic, we should expect a nasty and confrontation debate from the two youth movements.

Logically, the PAS Youth should blame UMNO Youth for not being Islamic enough and had deviated from the teaching of Islam.

But it does not look like the two movements are going to be engaged in any heated debate.

Funny, why would two debating teams willing to set up a joint secretariat?

These goons are at it again.

The nation should be ready to move beyond the some senseless and useless debate on race unity. The bigger question should be can the people unite to make this country a socio-economic powerhouse? Can we unite to compete against the rest of the world? Can we work together to curb corruption, social injustices, crime etc?

Only today I met several top executives who said that the lack of skilled labour is a bigger threat to our economic development than the lack of liberalisation. Companies find it extremely difficult to hire good skilled people in Malaysia. Hence, many had chosen to set up their companies in Singapore or Hong Kong despite a higher labour cost. Many Malaysian professionals can be found working in these economies.

Are both PAS and UMNO willing to discuss the important issue of retaining brains in the country?

As a Malaysian, I am growing disenchanted with our politicians and their inability to focus on real important issues.

As a news website put it, Malaysians were the force of change in the last general election. We must continue to push for a real change in the next by weeding out all useless politicians.

This Napolean in PAS in wanting so much to be a hero has singlehandedly shot the fragile Pakata Rakyat to smithereens.
Congratulations to the Ulamas in PAS. You have shown in no uncertain terms that you can no longer be trusted.
